I have attended Stanstead's language adventure camp only once, but the schedule was well structured and efficient. Counselors and instructors were cheerful, kind, and mature.
I entered this camp with no knowledge of the French language, but left with basic phrases and root words and sayings that have made classes much easier for me in my first year of schooling at Stanstead College.
(5) Program quality and activities
A lot of the different activities were centered around the outdoors, and I found camping most enjoyable in my opinion. I tried river rafting for the first time, and that certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone. I was only there for a year, but I always enjoyed the dances.
(5) Social dynamics and experience
It was much simpler than I expected to make an ample amount of friends, and groups would snatch you right up. Everyone I met there was pleasant and accepting.
I found myself fearing, on the first day, that there would already be cliques, and I would not make friends very easily, but imagine my surprise when my roommate, whom I had never met, jumped up and hugged me, telling me how excited she was to meet me.
(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors
Counselors and instructors there were always available and eager to help in any way that they could. I was never unable to approach, and if something was wrong, they never ignored or failed to notice it. A few people who had a significant impact on me were Tammy Osibanjo, Madik Trottier, and my lovely beginner French instructor, whose name I fail to recall.
(5) Advice and tips
For first-timers, I recommend you be prepared to meet lots of new, kind people and go to them if you need anything. Don't be nervous, the first night is the hardest, but by the end, you won't be able to fathom the thought of leaving. Also, keep the kitchen clean, and don't forget to get your friends' numbers or WhatsApps!
