(5) Overall experience
My kids loved attending Seneca Hill Summer camp. The camp provided a good mix of summer skills prep, outdoor activities, including water days, and field trips. My kids would come home encouraged to apply the things they learned at camp. For example, there was a music teacher who taught them how to play the ukulele/guitar and encouraged them to practice on their own. They came home happy and excited about returning to the camp the next day. I would send my kids back to this camp in the future and highly recommend Seneca Hill Private School's summer camp to other families!
(5) Reason for choosing the camp
I chose this camp as my kids were prior students of Seneca Hill Private School. What attracted me to the program was that it had a good mix of school & study habit prep, a variety of STEM/craft activities, outdoor activities, including two water days a week, and a field trip each week of the summer. It was also a bonus that before and after-care are included in the camp fees.
(5) Program quality and activities
My kids first attended Seneca Hill Private School's camp in 2019, and the programming has improved immensely since then. The schedule includes an hour of building good study habits and academic activities, which I think is great, so the kids don't forget what they've learned in school. The rest of the day is filled with activities, such as STEM work, crafts, water play, and there is a field trip each week of the summer (excluding short weeks).
(5) Social dynamics and experience
Since my kids previously attended the school, they were able to rekindle some old friendships and make new friends. Bullying was not really an issue that came up for this camp season, so we didn't have any issues there. Also, having attended the school and camp previously, I know that bullying is something that is not tolerated and dealt with right away at Seneca Hill.
(5) Skills and growth
I really liked that the camp included some academic work. There was a mix of math, english, geography, social studies that helped reinforce learning from the regular school year. I found my kids really took an interest in music. The music teacher encouraged them to play / practice at home (my kids already play the piano). During camp, they would be motivated on their own to play and practice new songs, as well as play on a new instrument (ukelele).
(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors
The staff and instructors are great. The school is very responsive and communicate well with parents. We were familiar with the teachers as my kids previously attended Seneca Hill Private School and find the teachers are very good. The teachers that regularly teach during the year also teach the summer camp program. They communicate well with each other as a team and ensure the safety of the kids and that the kids are having fun.
(5) Advice and tips
If you're looking for a traditional, multi-activity camp, I would highly recommend Seneca Hill Private School's summer camps. They have vastly improved their summer programming and all of the information for their summer camps can be found on their school website. One thing to keep in mind is that they will be moving the location of the school in the near future.
Experience at the summer camp at Seneca Hill was nothing short of great; we were immediately welcomed and shown around in a very family-oriented manner. They care, and it shows. I loved their method o...
