Combines the best of camp with the best of the arts, a full recreation schedule, and a core of incredible arts programming!

At Ross Creek we provide an amazing art day taught by professional artists and a great camp experience for kids on our 178 acres of field and forest, led by our fabulous counsellors. Whether exploring the world of making, or make-believe, drumming or dancing, making movies, or making monsters on paper,  our camps have something for every kid! Kids get outside each day, and explore our gorgeous landscape as part of their program.

Our Senior campers start to explore art forms in more depth, learning from our professional artists and gaining new skills while still focused on the creative exploration of the world, through the arts.

July 2
Learn to use a press in this exciting one-day workshop! Create your own incredible designs and imagery before pulling multiple prints in a selection of colours and beautiful paper. We’ll create a drawing, carve a block, roll the ink, and learn about how printmaking has changed through the ages.

July 3
Puppet Parades!
Hop on board as we prepare to put on a Puppet Parade with Carmen Lee (Shing) and Roland Chun (Shing)! We’ll take a look at our collection of unique puppets and props made by a host of professional artists, before designing our own creatures, figures, and effects. Campers will try out improvisation, choreography, and staging, while bringing their creations to life!

July 6-10
Architecture Studio
Learn an architectural vocabulary while designing and creating various one-of-a-kind structures, with Brent Schmidt. Students will use a variety of materials including clay, foam, cardboard, and much more to bring their designs to life.

July 13-17
Fashion Studio
This exciting program provides an introduction to the world of fashion. Fundamentals in design taught by Maggie MacCormick provide the basis for campers to create sketches, and to illustrate, fabricate, and execute projects in fabric from start to finish. If you have experience, we’ll take you further!

July 20-24
Photography Studio
Explore the concepts of creative vision, composition, and shooting techniques through the lens of digital cameras (learn how to use your own, or borrow one of ours). Participants will experiment with traditional and contemporary photography techniques as they explore the inspiring visual surroundings Ross Creek has to offer. Get inspired by instructor Bryson Chisolm and some of the great photographers from around the world while immersing yourself in the darkroom! End of week online gallery showcase.

July 27-31
Visual Arts Studio: Painting and Printmaking
With a focus on painting and printmaking techniques, this workshop gives emerging young artists the opportunity to explore their creativity and artistic skills with Bree Hyland. Campers will draw inspiration from the works of a range of artists and create work that will be showcased at the end of week online art gallery.
Graphic Design Studio
Make a wicked poster, capture your audience, and blend virtual reality with real events in this workshop with Colleen MacIsaac. Participants will learn about approaches to sharing text, colour, and ideas. From old fashioned layout to computer design, you’ll make graphic solutions to real world needs to print, build a catalogue of your own unique ideas.

August 24-28
Movie Studio
This camp is perfect for film lovers who want to tell their stories through movies! Campers will work with Henry Colin to create a live-action film, with a focus on both pre- and post-film production. Participants will be given the opportunity to write, act, direct, and edit under the guidance of a professional filmmaker. Last year, our film students made a film about Willem Dafoe, and our instructor got to tell the REAL Mr. Dafoe all about it!
