The Our Kids review of McGill Sports Camp

    our take

The McGill Sports Camp gives kids a chance to try new sports. The program is structured into three areas of specialization (sports, aquatic, creative) and allows kids to be paired up with other kids their age with the same interests. With the use of McGill’s extensive facilities, kids can use the same pool, gyms, courts, and fields as the varsity teams at the university. This can be really exciting for the kids as they may have watched athletes during varsity games and are now on the fields themselves. What’s unique about this program is that it is led by varsity athletes and students (some who have even played for Team Canada!) of the physical education and Kinesiology program at McGill. The students that lead the program are enthusiastic about teaching young kids in their home base, and many are interested in teaching as a career. They have the skills to give campers an elevated experience, over just any other camp counselor. Kids don’t need to be athletic to sign up for McGill Sports Camp, as it is more about fun and being introduced to new sports. Kids can challenge themselves and realize what they like and they don’t like. The McGill Sports Camp is a unique opportunity for kids to learn sports under talented mentors.
