Lone Prairie Camp, RR1, Ferintosh, Alberta
Join us Saturday, June 29 from 08:00 pm

    Ages: Completed Grade 10
    Dates: June 30(8pm) – July 26 (6:15pm)
    Cost: $475

Missed CLT 1 last year? Catch up this summer by signing up for our CLT 1&2 combo.

CLT (Christian Leadership Training) is an exciting opportunity for students to explore Christian leadership in the context of community. Following a broadly applicable curriculum, CLT offers students the chance to individually try out many areas of leadership with the support of their peers, as well as people who have walked through similar steps before them. With a passionate commitment to discipleship, community, and facilitating self-discovery of Kingdom leadership, CLT aims to help students realize that the best leaders are those who are the best servants, and the best servants are those who intentionally pursue Jesus and the changes He brings to one’s life and character.

CLT 1 focuses on basics. It is primarily a bridge, allowing the transition from camper to staff using the book Christian Camp Leader. While walking this bridge, those in CLT 1 explore many basics of faith rooted in understanding the teachings of Jesus and are encouraged to understand how this faith impacts their worldview and lifestyle. Through Bible study and discussion, all in the context of community, CLTs are challenged to wrestle with their beliefs, as well as how to live them out in service both at camp and at home.

CLT 2 focuses on the spiritual disciplines. Far from strange rituals and religious pomp, CLTs dive into why we, as followers of Jesus, maintain certain practices that deepen our relationship with God, and our understanding of him. The disciplines are laid out by Richard Foster in practical terms, and represent things easily incorporated in our daily lives, not just legalistic rituals. The curriculum complements a week of junior cabin-leading, as well as a week of junior support staff, as students learn various aspects of leadership, and how the lessons learned while engaging in the various disciplines transcend circumstance.

    Ages: Completed Grade 11 & CLT 2
    Dates: June 30(8pm) – July 26 (6:15pm)

CLT 3 focuses on the ‘Go’ of the Great Commission. It is intensely practical as students grapple with how they themselves need to follow Jesus, and how best they can empower others to do the same. Students will develop the ‘honourable ambition’ of leadership (1 Tim 3:1) by taking a more active leadership role among the CLT group, shadowing various camp leadership staff and through an in depth study of leadership based on Oswald Sander’s book Spiritual Leadership. CLT 3 recognizes that a leader’s character is paramount, and the lessons learned while experiencing elements of camp leadership apply to any situation in which we want to be followers of Jesus with character.

  • July 27, 2019Rocky Mountain Day Hiking
Lone Prairie Camp, RR1, Ferintosh, Alberta
Join us Saturday, July 27 from 04:00 pm

    Ages: Completed Grade 6-9
    When: July 27 – Aug. 1
    Drop-off & Pick-up Location: Lone Prairie Camp
Cost: $350 (Note: As with all camp events, subsidies are available so don’t let cost deter you from coming)

The LPC Rocky Mountain Day-Hiking trip will consist of 5 day-hikes that will be challenging but realistic for a Jr. High student since most of the supplies will remain at the base-camp rather than being carried as in backpacking.

We will be waking up for 7:30am and breakfast will be at 8 so we can start hiking at 8:30. We will be hiking roughly 15km/day at a rate of approximately 3km/hr which means with breaks roughly 5hrs + lunch. Time permitting, we will spend some time on the last day at the Hot Springs.

Please review the information available on this site to get an idea of what to expect physically and mentally. If after reading you still have questions about anything, feel free to contact the Trip Leader: [email protected]

Director's Message

director

Andrew Dreger, Camp Director

I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2010 with a Bachelor in Engineering Physics and am currently completing a Masters of Divinity degree through The Canadian Baptist Seminary (CBS, part of ACTS).

I took a year between my first and second years of university to serve street children with ACTION Zambia and ACTION Uganda. Unless  we hear differently, my wife Sarah and I will be heading overseas after I graduate to serve in long-term missions.

But throughout all my other commitments, the ministry of Lone Prairie Camp has captured my being again and again.  I am excited to be serving as Camp Director and have also been a CLT, Support Staff, Maintenance, Cabin Leader, Boat Driver, Special Projects, Program Director…If there is a position at camp, I’ve probably held it at some point :)

The Things We Learn From Campersexpand

Stillness. Arms up. In awe.
"How deep the Father's love for us..."
I remember standing at the front of the chapel, crying as I clutched onto my guitar. I couldn't even sing anymore. Watching children sing at the top of their lungs, arms stretched out, eyes closed,  or praying silently... there was so much power there. He was present. These children's voices shook the chapel and the hearts of all the staff.
Sometimes we believe we have a lot to teach children, that we inherently will be role models. Although that isn't completely untrue, children can sometimes be the best role models. They can be so unwavering in their love for God, innocent and free of alternate agendas.
When you send your kids to camp, we learn from them too.

Why I Love LPCexpand

I love camp because it was always a safe environment .. and it was tons of fun. As a camper you were free, and in fact encouraged, to be yourself without the staff judging you. Cabin leaders and support staff were always so excited to get to meet you, making you feel very important! When staff would remember you, it made you feel like you really mattered to them, and often times the returning staff did remember. The activities were also so much fun! - rock climbing was always my favorite, and when I was young the mud pitt was always a hit! Another thing I love about camp is that it taught me some really useful life lessons, like how to live, and get along with other people. As well, I got to meet tons of new people who have become life-long friends. Camp was also a great place to learn about God, and the great things he does in peoples lives. As a camper and as a staff member, camp was always a major influence on my walk with God. Devo’s were always interesting, and CLT meetings/campfires really encouraged me to take my faith into my own hands. I don’t think I would be where I am today in my spiritual walk without the guidance of the staff, and campers I met through LPC.

What Camp Means To Meexpand

Camp is the place where I first encountered a mentor figure that really cared for me and pointed me to God. It’s the place where I first discovered true fellowship instead of the coffee variety, encountering God away from the concrete jungle of a city, and the idea of knowing and loving Jesus. I’ve seen 9 summers, both as a camper and a staff, with a different team each year. The personnel may change drastically, but God is the Great I am, and He continues to use us to transform kids’ lives.
