(5) Overall experience
My daughter enjoyed the camp activities so much that she did not want it to end! After the camp, she told me she now knows how to play baseball, pickleball and floor hockey, and from the photos and videos, I can see she really was able to play and enjoyed them a lot! It was really a wonderful experience as she got an exposure to a variety of sports during this camp, which is a good overview so she can tell me which sports she would like to learn further. I would want to send her to this camp again next summer, as the teaching staff are all very caring and attentive, and the location is very convenient for me.
(5) Reason for choosing the camp
Good comments from a friend and the convenient location originally attracted me to send my child to this camp. This is a well-operated school and I like the school environment, especially the indoor gym room, which is great for sports activities during the very hot summer. This experience is definitely worth the investment and there were no hidden costs.
(5) Program quality and activities
The camp consists of both sports and stem activities which are very comprehensive and balanced, which aligns with my expectation. My child especially love the floor hockey, rock climbing and egg falling experiment. She did learn some good skills and knowledge through these engaging activities. There are always 1 main teacher and an assistant teacher there to ensure all the kids are being taken care of. The class size is just adequate. There are a lot of photos and videos sharing so easy for parents to see what and how their kids are doing.
(5) Social dynamics and experience
My child told me she made some new friends and became even closer with her existing friends who also joined the camp. Even during the after-school care program, the kids were able to do some activities or watch movies together, further strengthening their friendship. My child did not experience bullying; instead, she told me everyone in the camp is nice and friendly.
(5) Skills and growth
My child gains sports skills like baseball, pickleball, and floor hockey, which she never played before. She also gained STEM knowledge as she described to me what experiment was done at school, and she did ask questions. The rock climbing activity provides my child a good experience to try out new climbing routes, which she did not try a year ago when we went there. She was excited that she conquered new ones this year.
(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors
My child took sick leave for 2 days, and when she returned, the staff were so attentive that they asked me to fill in a consent form so they could help my child with the medication. When I saw the photos on the school's Instagram, I asked if I could receive a copy, and the staff happily marked down my email address and emailed me the photos of my child after the camp. Also, when I asked to add a meal plan for my child during the camp, they were able to provide in short notice.
We always communicate via emails. We also chatted daily when I picked up my child, and they would let me know how my child was doing in the camp that day.
I do not have any conflicts, so no comment on that.
(5) Advice and tips
I would advise anyone to book this camp earlier to enjoy the early bird discount, as I booked late and did not get to enjoy the discount this year. Overall, I am very happy with this camp, so no complaints at all. The school did share important information about the camp before it started by email, so everything is well prepared.
