(5) Overall experience

My daughter has truly enjoyed the full range of EVP volleyball programs, from the summer camps and house league programs to the Select house league she is currently enrolled in. Each stage has offered a positive and enriching experience, tailored to meet athletes at their individual skill levels. One of the aspects we value most about EVP is the welcoming atmosphere. Players of all abilities are supported and encouraged to develop at a pace that aligns with their own readiness and potential. The program does not simply focus on technical skill development; it fosters holistic growth. I have seen my daughter make meaningful progress not only in her volleyball fundamentals, but also in her confidence, resilience, and sense of teamwork. The coaching team consistently demonstrates professionalism and genuine dedication to athlete development. They create an environment where players feel motivated and supported. We are very happy to be part of the EVP community and are excited to see how the program continues to support my daughter’s growth, both as an athlete and as a young person.

(5) Reason for choosing the program

Before joining EVP, my daughter participated in other volleyball programs. Unfortunately, those environments were not structured to support athletes across varying skill levels. Players with less experience often received limited attention, and the developmental pathway did not feel inclusive or balanced. We were looking for a program that would prioritize athlete development over selection and provide appropriate coaching support regardless of starting level. That search led us to EVP. After attending the summer camps, my daughter immediately connected with the program structure and coaching approach. The sessions were well organized and intentionally designed to engage athletes at different stages of development. She felt supported, challenged appropriately, and motivated to continue, which naturally led her to enroll in additional EVP programs. From a practical perspective, EVP’s program fees are also competitive compared to other clubs, and we appreciate the transparency in pricing. There are no unexpected fees throughout the program, which makes planning straightforward for families.

(5) Program quality and activities

When my daughter started playing volleyball in Grade 3, there were very few programs that offered both structured practices and actual game play for younger athletes. Many programs focused solely on drills, and she often felt bored without real game situations. We switched to EVP house league programs at her Grade 5. What stood out about EVP is that they offer a development league starting as early as age eight, combining skill development with consistent game experience. The rotating weekly format in-house league keeps the sessions dynamic and engaging, and it truly energizes my daughter. She feels motivated because she’s not only building technical skills but also applying them in a game setting at the same time.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

One of the main reasons my daughter wanted to play volleyball was to make new friends beyond her school circle. She can be a bit shy when interacting with new peers, but volleyball has truly helped her lower her guard and step outside of her comfort zone. Through the team environment, she has become more open and confident in connecting with her teammates. The EVP programs genuinely foster a safe, supportive, and friendly atmosphere where the athletes can learn, compete, and have fun at the same time.

(5) Skills and growth

My daughter tends to take a bit longer to pick up certain technical skills, such as setting and overhand serving. She has also been hesitant to apply those developing skills in game situations because she worries that mistakes might negatively impact her team’s results. What we truly appreciate about the EVP programs is the structured and progressive skill development during practices, along with the strong emphasis on building confidence. The Coach, Dan, actively encourages the athletes to step outside their comfort zones and focus on growth rather than outcomes. During games, all coaches reinforce the importance of applying newly learned skills without fear of losing. Through the Select House League program, Claire has become much more comfortable taking that approach. She is now more willing to try, learn, and improve in real game situations, which has made a meaningful difference in both her confidence and overall development.

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

My daughter has participated in a variety of EVP youth programs, including summer camps, PA Day camps, house league, and select house league. Through these programs, she has met many outstanding coaches who are not only kind and supportive but also highly professional in teaching both technical skills and game strategy. Thumbs up to Coach Dan, Mike and Cameron, Claire truly enjoys the positive and friendly environment they fostered in the various programs, and she feels safe knowing that it’s okay to learn at her own pace. I also sincerely appreciate the club’s professionalism in handling cancellations due to inclement weather. The communication from Megan is always prompt, with clear details about the cancellation and the refund process. The refunds are processed efficiently and transparently, which gives me great peace of mind as a parent.

(5) Advice and tips

As a parent, I believe a strong volleyball program must have the right balance between staff professionalism, thoughtful program design, and overall player experience. Since my daughter learns at her own pace and is naturally shy in social settings, finding the right program has not always been easy. EVP has been the right fit for her. The program allows her to develop skills and build confidence at her own pace, while also encouraging her to step outside of her comfort zone and continue growing. She genuinely enjoys both the practices and the games, and she has been able to form meaningful friendships with peers her age, as well as build positive, lasting connections with her coaches.
