(5) Overall experience

My daughter needed guidance, direction and support to figure out her post-secondary path and how to apply to schools. Kelly provided the very much needed support, suggestions, guidance and encouragement to help her get there in a positive way. We are so grateful for Kelly’s approach, her attention to detail and supportive environment for our child to succeed. The support was highly valuable and necessary for her needs that her school guidance program was not able to assist with. I would definitely send her back if needed again. As a result, my child was able to apply to schools more confidently and independently with Kelly’s support.

(5) Reason for choosing the program

Referral from a friend. The experience was very much worth the investment. The website was highly informative and explained her services, which helped with making the choice to go with her program. We chose this program over others because it aligned the best in terms of what we were looking for.

(5) Program quality and activities

The program was effective; Kelly indicated what she could provide and was able to deliver on that. Kelly interacted with my child in a manner that provided encouragement and interest that we all found valuable. They met in person and reviewed together the applications and programs she was interested in. We only saw Kelly for the post-secondary application and no other programs.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

My child felt included in the experience. The program did not involve any matters related to making new friends or strengthening existing friendships. If anything, being able to receive this support enabled my child to be able to relate more to her friends who were also applying to university programs. She had more confidence that she was also able to make individualized choices.

(5) Skills and growth

She had more agency and independence to be able to decide on her interests during the university application process. She was able to make better decisions and solve issues more effectively through this experience. Going through various choices with Kelly enabled my child to look at different programs through a certain lens and have more confidence to apply for programs that might have been more challenging.

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

Kelly spoke with us on the phone at first, at length, about what she could provide, demonstrating empathy and encouragement, using a highly positive and calm approach that worked well with my child. She also provided updates via email after sessions and kept the parents in the loop. Kelly responded promptly when needed and helped answer questions quickly.

(5) Advice and tips

Ask Kelly questions you have upfront so she knows how to best support your child. Kelly's website is informative and explains her services and what she provides, so that was helpful to review prior to speaking with her. There is nothing else to add, as we already knew what we were planning to speak about and her program met our needs.
