In Drone – Rescue Mission (AI Light), children become rescue engineers and drone pilots as they tackle high-stakes, mission-based challenges using Python, drone flight fundamentals, and an exciting first look at AI-inspired decision-making.

Campers learn how code connects to real-world motion as they practice safe drone flight, navigation, and Python programming basics for controlling drone behaviour. Then, students explore Machine Learning through gesture recognition, working with guided lessons and filling in key pieces to understand how training, predictions, and smart actions work (without being overwhelmed by complexity).

Each session follows a hands-on rhythm: campers learn a concept, test it in flight, debug and refine, and apply it to increasingly exciting rescue missions. The week builds toward a final Rescue Mission Showcase, where students demonstrate their missions and explain how gestures, AI predictions and Python guided the drone movement.

By the end of the program, children will:

  • Gain confidence exploring advanced technology concepts in an age-appropriate way
  • Strengthen computational thinking through testing, iteration, and problem-solving
  • Use gesture-based AI interactions to influence outcomes
  • Build Python-controlled drone rescue missions

Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Resilience: Coding builds real problem-solvers. Kids face challenges, make mistakes, and try again. At Code-it Hacks Kids, projects help campers stick with tough problems, test new ideas, and celebrate progress, building confidence, perseverance, and resilience
  • Creativity: Creativity comes alive through hands-on, inquiry-based play. Code-it Hacks Kids' Campers don’t just use technology, they invent, design, and solve fun, real-world challenges through games, crafts, and tech builds that spark imagination and bring bold ideas to life.
