About InterVarsity Circle Square Ranch Grand River

Circle Square Ranch is a Christian summer camp offering memorable overnight and day camps. We specialize in offering a multi-level horsemanship program – with decades of experience teaching everyone from total beginners to advanced riders. Aside from the barn, campers can enjoy swimming, high/low ropes, climbing, archery, campfires, tomahawks and many other activities instructed by passionate and qualified leaders. We offer dynamic leadership programs for ages 13 -16. Our programs, including age-appropriate Bible discussions, are designed to give campers opportunities to grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. COVID-19 Response

We can't wait to be back on horses and with campers.

If 2020 has taught us one thing, it's that we need to stay flexible. As a result, we've: -delayed registration -planned with flexibility in mind -updated health and safety protocols -explored reduction in camper capacity -modified activities

Safety and training have always been a priority for us, but in 2021, they take on a new dimension. Here is what we are doing to ensure camper safety: -public health guidelines will be met or exceeded -staff training will include enhanced health and safety training -contact tracing protocols may be initiated -COVID-19 and symptom management and care measures will be established.

We are looking forward to creatively welcoming campers back on 2021. We will keep camper families and registrants updated as plans progress.

  • Insider Reviews & Perspectives

The Our Kids review of InterVarsity Circle Square Ranch Grand River

    our take

InterVarstiy Circle Square Ranch Grand River was founded in the 1970s as a program of Crossroads Christian Communications TV program, Circle Square. The popularity of the show created an initial interest in the camp programs, though in time the quality of the camps themselves were the draw independent of it. In 2011 Circle Square was bought by InterVarsity, becoming one of nine camps that organization runs across the country. Begun 1929, the InterVarsity camps contribute to the goal of creating unique opportunities to bring young people together around the personal challenges that a camp setting can provide. At camp kids unplug and turn their attention to the community they find there. The activities facilitate a greater understanding of campers’ talents and abilities, as well as the Christian values that inform the programming. The equestrian programs at Circle Square date back to the camp’s founding four decades ago; as strong as ever, they are a particular draw for many of the families that enrol here.

    Day Camp
    Camper Parent (Parent)

Again, I found the explore counselors to be energetic, extremely welcoming and deliberate in their attempts to get to know my daughter (And my son who wasn't even a camper yet) and us as parents. They made sure to welcome the kids warmly, using their names and made a point of greeting us as parents too and let us know what was going on for that day. Very well done ... Read More

    The Right Balance
    Camper Parent (Parent)

I love that my children get a variety of activities. To me Circle Square Ranch is what summer is all about. Being outside, riding, meeting friends, swimming, crafts and being with and learning about God.

    Year after year
    Camper Parent (Parent)

My kids absolutely adore attending CSR. This is our second year and just like last year they are already excited to come back again next year.

    Registration
    Camper Parent (Parent)

Telephone support and answers before registering were very helpful, encouraging and informative.

    Riding
    Camper Parent (Parent)

We like that our children had a positive experience for their first time at any camp. We liked how excited our children were to learn horse back riding.

    Day Camp
    Camper Parent (Parent)

Watching my daughter grow and change over the week is camp. She was glowing every day when I picked her up. She would spend the whole car ride home gushing about all of the activities she participated in.

    Extreme Day Camp
    Camper Parent (Parent)

My boys have been pretty particular in the past when it comes to summer camp and they have not always enjoyed themselves but this year they had a blast! They loved the Extreme camp options; the archery tag, the zip lines and the ropes course. ... Read More

What do you like about camp?
    Camper Parent (Parent)

[The] number and variety of activities... Made the kids forget about electronic devices!

    Location
    Camper Parent (Parent)

Affordable camp with amazing activities, spiritual content and a convenient location

    Day Camp Experience
    Camper Parent (Parent)

Songs and games during lunch. A true camp experience that they come away feeling like they've gone to "camp" without actually sleeping away from home if they're not ready for that step yet.

    Full days!
    Camper Parent (Parent)

Learning about Jesus twice a day and no other camp has horseback riding, swimming and adventure all in the same day and in the same camp!!

    Boys
    Camper Parent (Parent)

Action packed! My son loved all of the new things he got to try!

    Junior Camp
    Camper Parent (Parent)

[she] said her favourite thing about her first time ( won’t be the last ) at junior sleepover camp was “everything, especially the time she spent with the horses.”

    Theme of camp.
    Camper Parent (Parent)

I think it's fun how its Ranch themed instead of regular wilderness themed camps and how it revolves around horses, Jesus, and god.

    New Experience
    Camper Parent (Parent)

A new experience for my daughter that included a variety of activities, a comfortable atmosphere, safe/quality supervision, and close to home.

Camp is the perfect place to develop leadership skills.

Our leadership development camps help young people to determine what they enjoy, identify skills, and recognize areas that they need to develop.

Being given the opportunity to lead in a supportive environment is a crucial ingredient to our success.

    • Smuck or Schmuck?

Is it smuck the staff or schmuck the staff?

Either way, Circle Square Ranch staff and volunteers have been getting whip cream pies to the face every week for the last three decades.

It's always a highlight of the week when campers play an elaborate game of hide and seek with the staff.  The sounds of laughter, squeals of delight, and campers asking each other, "Did you catch anyone?" can be heard all over the campground.

The staff are good sports, and at least 20 get a whip cream pie to the face every week.

It's definitely a camp favourite....now we just have to figure out what it's called.

    • Happy 30th Birthday!

      It's our birthday!  35 years and 20,000 + campers!

Founded in 1985, Brantford Circle Square Ranch is part of a network of nine Inter-Varsity Camps across Canada.

Over the past 35 years, we have welcomed more than 20,000 + campers to our 135 acres of beautiful, rolling countryside in southern Ontario. We offer many activities including horseback riding, swimming, high ropes and zip line, archery, skateboarding, campfires and Bible studies.

During the summer months, we offer both residential and day camps for children and youth between the ages of 5 and 16. In this camp community, where leadership and faith development is encouraged, children and youth are comfortable asking tough questions about life and faith. We believe that faith in Jesus Christ and an understanding of God’s love leads to a life full of purpose and meaning.

Camp is a fun and safe place for campers to make new friends, experience new things, develop skills and challenge themselves to grow and change.  We promise, it will be the highlight of their summer.
