(5) Overall experience

Adventure Valley has been an amazing and memorable experience over the past two summers. Each year was filled with fun activities, supportive counselors, and opportunities to challenge myself while having a great time with friends. What has brought you back: I came back because of the positive environment, the friendships I made, and the chance to keep growing as a leader. The camp always made me feel welcome and encouraged me to try new things, which made me want to return. How would you describe the overall camp atmosphere: The atmosphere is energetic, friendly, and inclusive. Everyone—from the counselors to the campers—supports each other. It’s a place where you can truly be yourself and feel part of a community. Skills or personal growth gained: Through the leadership programs, I learned teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. I also became more confident and responsible, especially when helping younger campers and participating in group activities.

(5) Program quality and activities

Program Quality and Activities: Adventure Valley offers a wide variety of well-organized and engaging programs. Every day felt different, with a mix of creative, outdoor, and team-building activities that made camp exciting and meaningful. Most enjoyable/interesting activities: I especially enjoyed the leadership games, team challenges, and group projects where we had to work together to solve problems. The creative workshops and sports activities were also a lot of fun and helped me connect with other campers. Activities tried for the first time: I tried several activities for the first time, including outdoor team-building exercises and leading small group sessions with younger campers. It was rewarding to step into a leadership role and see how much I could contribute. Activities or experiences that challenged/pushed me out of my comfort zone: Public speaking and leading group discussions were the most challenging at first. However, with encouragement from the counselors and my teammates, I became more confident in expressing my ideas and guiding others. These experiences really helped me grow.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

Social Dynamics and Experience: It’s very easy to make friends and fit into a group at Adventure Valley. Everyone is kind, inclusive, and supportive, which helps new campers feel comfortable right away. As an older camper, I also had the chance to help younger participants feel welcome, which made the experience even more meaningful for me. Memorable bonding experience: One of my most special memories was with a younger camper I helped supervise. We spent a lot of time together during art activities, and on the last day, she surprised me with a painting she made for me. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and it reminded me how much small acts of kindness can create real connections.

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

The counselors and instructors at Adventure Valley are incredibly approachable and always willing to help. They create a positive and supportive environment where every camper feels seen and encouraged to do their best. One counselor in particular made a big impact on my experience. She always took the time to listen and offer advice, especially when I was learning how to take on more responsibility as an older camper. Her encouragement helped me gain confidence and inspired me to be a good role model for younger campers.

(5) Advice and tips

Don’t be shy—jump in and try everything! Adventure Valley is a place where everyone supports each other, so it’s okay to step out of your comfort zone and be yourself. You’ll make friends quickly and discover new things about yourself along the way. Most importantly, enjoy every moment—time at camp goes by fast, but the memories and friendships you make will last long after it’s over.
