Arts camps indulge the inner artiste in your son or daughter. Arts is one of those words that is bandied about pretty loosely so you need to investigate camps closely to see exactly what it is each camp means when it calls itself an "arts camp." There are, of course, some very good arts camps put on by museums and organizations that specialize in the development and support of the arts. For example, some camps offer a fully integrated approach that immerses children in training in visual arts, drama, music and more.
Arts camps can take children at any age and help them to explore the arts at whatever level of development they are at.
There are also "arts camps" that focus on a specific activity to help your child grow in appreciation of or skill in a specific artistic activity:
Dance camps allow your child to explore the world of dance, whether that entails specialization in or mere exposure to the worlds of jazz, ballet, tap and many other forms of dance. There's no better way to improve coordination, either! And that's just one kind of arts camp.
Music camps are a form of arts camp that exposes your budding Bach or rock star to different forms of music and intense musical instruction in the free floating environs of a camp, where they might also enjoy more traditional camp activities like crafts and hiking.
There are also theatre arts camps, writing camps and many other kinds.
As we continue to grow, camps.ca will list many more arts camps from Canada and the northern United States.
