Where are ballroom dance lessons offered?

Ballroom dance lessons are offered across Canada. This includes in Toronto, Mississauga, Ottawa, and Montreal, and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

These lessons are often offered as part of a dance camp. Sometimes, though, they’re offered in a traditional camp, sports camp, or speciality camp.

Ballroom dance classes can take place in the summer or winter. They’re also offered in the evenings, after school, on weekends, during March break or winter break, during passover, and on PA days.

    What will my child learn?

If your child is interested in dance, a ballroom dance class might be just what they’re looking for. In these classes, your child will typically learn a wide variety of classic and modern dances. These may include the following:

    • Salsa
    • Swing
    • Tango

You can be sure, then, that your child will really learn to dance! In addition to the basics, they’ll learn plenty of dance moves, steps, and routines. They’ll also learn stretching and conditioning techniques, as well as proper etiquette and terminology.

Your child will often dance in pairs, but sometimes they’ll participate in group dance routines. These can get quite sophisticated, and involve plenty of choreography.

In ballroom dance lessons, your child will receive instruction from a trained teacher. They’ll also practice and rehearse much of what they learn. And in most classes, your child will participate in a recital which you’ll be able to watch at the end of the session.

For more advanced dancers, there are higher-level classes. In these classes, your child will receive more intensive instruction. They may also participate in dance competitions, where they can win prizes.
