About this Camp

Canadian Contemporary School of Art

The Canadian Contemporary School of Art (CSSA) takes an innovative approach to creative art instruction and provides a warm and welcoming learning environment for students of all ages. We proudly offer classes that teach painting, drawing, sculpting, fashion design, cartooning, animation, textile printing, filmmaking, puppetry and architecture.

With classes led by practicing artists, our program encourages a child’s natural ability to be curious when engaging with the world that can help children be more resourceful and confident when faced with life’s challenges, big and small.

By nurturing the artist in every child, classes at CCSA help to plant the seeds of lifelong creativity.

The 2020 Experience at Canadian Contemporary School of Art

With the Phase 3 announcement, advice, and guidelines of Ontario Government and Toronto Public Health, the Canadian Contemporary School of Art will be reopened starting August 10, 2020. We are more than happy and very excited to see you all at CCSA again, and to be able to host our students for in-person summer camp, our virtual summer camp, and our online art classes.

In accordance with the safety measures recommended by Toronto Public Health to ensure our staff and students' health and safety, CCSA will be screening staff and students on arrival, posting clear signage with screening questions at the entrance, practicing physical distancing and hand hygiene for all students and staff, using face-coverings, and keeping a daily record of everyone entering the school to support contact tracing.

We will continue to stay in close communication with Toronto Public Health and other Ministries in the provincial and federal government for any new guidelines and future plans. More details and information about re-opening announcement and safety plan can be found in our website.

Reviews & Testimonials

Summer Camp
Diana Minkova — Parent

My kids 4 and 8 loved the summer camp last year! They were so happy and engaged with their creative projects, which were so unique. Along with the fun they learned how to be persistent and complete their piece of art. I was glad to see them proud of their work.

Creative Approach
Nazli Soltani — Parent

Creative approach to teach students based on their own passion!

Best Art school!
Hannah Farhang — Parent

One of the best art schools in Toronto. This is the place where my children learned how to paint. The teachers are all professional artists. They show so much love and care to children that keeps them motivated in all classes.

Director's Message

Nahal Bahrman, Founder and Director

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the Canadian Contemporary School of Art (CSSA)!

We started in 2016, with one goal in mind: nurturing the artist in every child. At CCSA, we believe in using creativity as an educational tool to encourage a child’s natural ability to be curious when engaging with the world. This type of experiential learning creates opportunities for self-expression, calculated risk-taking, and open-minded inquiry that can help children be more independent, resourceful, and confident when facing any challenge.

We offer a variety of art programming from preschoolers to teenagers specifically designed to encourage the early development of creative skillsets they can apply in their everyday life. Imagine the joy experience in learning more about their creative selves, helping them build the foundations for the well-rounded adults they will grow up to be.

From our Art for Tots program, to our after-school visual arts program, and our Portfolio Preparation classes for young adults, we focus on developing art-making as a lifelong hobby that encourages perseverance, discipline, and innovation.

We are located at the heart of Toronto’s Leaside neighbourhood, in a bright and open 3,750 square foot space.

If you would like to know more about our programs and camps, please visit our website at www.ccsa.art, or email us at [email protected]

Come and help plant the seeds of lifelong creativity in your child’s life!

Sincerely,

Nahal Bahrman
