    Good Online and In-Person Classes
    Jessica H. (Parent)

My daughter goes to French Immersion elementary school so she had quite limited English learning environment till the beginning of Gr. 2. She has been really enjoying the classes since the first day at LMLA. It has been a year and 9 months and her English grammar, reading, and writing got improved tremendously. We had to go to Korea this March for my knee surgery and I didn't think my daughter would wake up to take her 7:30 am LMLA class in Korea time, but she insisted to keep taking the class from her favorite teacher G as she didn't want to miss any to learn something new. Thanks to their online platform availability during Covid-19 pandemic, she was able to keep learning even in Korea. Either on or off site class worked well for my daughter. All the staff and teachers are super friendly and professional. They have their own LMLA special program throughout kids' learning process and I think it is very effective and well-laid out. Thank you so much to LMLA team! I would strongly recommend it to everyone ... Read More

    Wonderful Experience
    Dooseon J. (Parent)

My 11 years old (Gr. 5) son is in French Immersion so he needed some extra help to improve his English skills. He started the weekly (online live) reading and writing class last September and we are extremely pleased with his performance and improvement. He just got top marks in English on his school final report card and his classroom teacher mentioned that his English writing is “impeccable”. Without hesitation, I can say putting him in the Little Mountain Academy (LMA) class was an excellent choice and I highly recommend their programs to parents whose children need some additional help or who simply want to improve in a given area, like writing. Lastly, I want to share a few things that I experienced with LMA. 1. My son was in weekly virtual live classes and the classes were 2 hours long. At first, I thought 2 hours seemed too long for an 11 year old, however my son really enjoyed the class and looked forward to hit every week as there were a lot of interactive discussions, games and activities which made the class more interesting. If you happen to miss a class, they send you recordings so you can catch up before the next week’s class. 2. I really like the fact that the virtual live classes only have a small number of students. In our case, it was four students and the opportunity for participation and contribution to class activities for each student was tremendous! The online platform they use is highly interactive and interesting. 3. The teacher was very fun, friendly, knowledgeable and caring. The curriculum was excellent and it was clear to me what our son learned each term and how he improved. 4. I really enjoyed the extra experiences: Parent and teacher interviews, Report card, and In-class parent visits for student presentations. 5. I still need to remind my son to complete his weekly homework assignments but the amount seems realistic and manageable and helps him improve a lot. 6. My only worry for the next term is the schedule. My son has extra curricular activities throughout the year and getting a workable schedule can be problematic. While we had a similar problem last year, they attempt to accommodate our schedule as much as possible. The staff were very friendly and empathetic and we are confident they will make the schedule work for us again this year ... Read More

Develop A Very High Level of English
    Ludmila B. (Parent)

Our two kids (10 and 13) have been attending LMLA since Kindergarten when they started a French Immersion program. Over the years, they met many dedicated and engaging teachers, developed their English speaking, reading, and writing skills, and were always looking forward to the next class :) Thanks to LMLA, both our kids were able to develop a very high level of English, despite we don’t speak English at home. All the teachers we met were fun, friendly and very professional. Similarly, LMLA staff have been always trying to accommodate all our needs. During the pandemic, LMLA managed the transition to online teaching extremely well. The online classes maintained both engagement and rigour. Thank you LMLA ... Read More

    • Our success stories

"What has been the greatest change in your child since attending Little Mountain Learning Academy?" Let’s share the success stories from our students.

      Aubrey & Sophia’s Parent – Erin

Aubrey felt bored, uninspired, and unchallenged in her regular school day classes. She wanted to improve her writing skills in English and needed specific, direct instruction on how to accomplish this. Similarly, her presentation skills were weak and she was unable to clearly articulate her thoughts. Ideally, she needed a small class environment where she would gain confidence and receive personal support.

Sophia, on the other hand, is in French Immersion and was struggling with her English reading and writing skills. She was performing below grade level in both of these crucial areas. Due to this, she was unmotivated and uninterested in reading or her homework.

Since they started attending Little Mountain Learning Academy 2 years ago, Aubrey’s school anxiety has completely vanished, and Sophia is no longer disengaged from her learning and is an active participant.

Aubrey is currently studying in Advanced Reading & Writing (Eagle Stream). Her teacher was able to coach Aubrey through the application process working toward an I.B. program, and taught the class how to write formal letters;, introducing themselves and explaining their accomplishments and educational hopes for the future. Aubrey mentioned that the only writing she does in school is answering comprehension questions.

At Little Mountain, the students are given the opportunity to learn a greater variety of writing styles, for example, essay writing, timed journal entries, personal literature responses, etc. As a result, Aubrey’s English mark has moved from a B to an A because her writing has improved.

Sophia is currently in Academic Reading & Writing (Rooster Stream). She now does her own homework and heads to school prepared. And she reads for pleasure and happily discusses her literature. She has become a confident reader and is in stride with her classmates. Her report card has improved and she no longer feels like a badly performing student.

We have found that Little Mountain Learning Academy has filled a gap in my daughters’ learning. Little Mountain reflects a very high standard of learning and they are in sync with what the children need to succeed in their programs at school.

The teachers motivate students through fun engaging activities. They expect the students to come to class ready to learn and hold them to a high standard. I am also happy with the amount of attention and personal explanation my children received, which resulted in improved output in all of their school assignments.

Both of my daughters are happy and engaged in their own learning and were always excited to go.

      Emanuel’s Parent – Paula

Emanuel did not have a particular academic challenge before we joined Little Mountain Learning Academy more than 3 years ago. I wanted him to start reading by the time he entered kindergarten. However, I realized I did not know how to teach him to read as I did not have a system to follow.

Emanuel started in Academic Reading & Writing (Hare Stream), and now is studying in Academic Reading & Writing (Deer Stream) for an older grade.

I have definitely seen big progress in Emanuel’s reading and writing. He is engaged in class despite the challenges. The teachers are always engaging, provide feedback to the parents so that I can understand the logic of the program structure. It is very well designed.

I also value excellent customer service and flexibility from the front desk, always trying to accommodate parents’ needs.

For me, Little Mountain Learning Academy is the one place where my son feels challenged and stretched. It is not always easy to finish the homework and to keep up with the class activities, but at the same time, this is where I see him growing consistently.

      Oskar & Matylda’s Parent – Jan

Our children have been studying at Little Mountain Learning Academy for more than three years. Because English is not a language we speak at home, our kids were not fully comfortable in an English speaking environment. I wanted to improve our kids’ ability to speak, read and write in English.

And I value the professionalism of the teachers and their commitment to our kids’ learning. I am happy to see steady progress through the encouragement of good work, and visible advances in our kids’ English language skills.

After attending Early Literacy (Butterfly Stream) and Academic Reading & Writing (Hare Stream), our children have shown significant improvement in their English language skills. They are now happily reading English books on their own, and, in addition, are fully engaged in their learning.
