Kids Bolo Urdu-English Programs answered our questions

Who are you as an organization?

Kids Bolo is on a mission to make learning Urdu easy, fun and engaging for kids living in the West. Our Urdu Conversational Classes are designed to focus on spoken Urdu used in everyday language with the following objectives in mind: (1) Kids should have fun and remain engaged through activities and games (2) Kids should get exposed to the beautiful Urdu language, at a level that resonates with them

    • Special needs: Not available

What do you do differently or uniquely well?

"Expect your kids to have a blast with a variety of interactive activities and games that will keep them engaged and wanting more! Our early level Urdu classes ease children into learning Urdu through a hybrid model. The children then get increased exposure to Urdu as they move up the levels, eventually moving to Urdu only classes"

Who are your staff and counsellors?

"All our Urdu tutors are native Urdu speakers that live in the US, UK or Canada. We have ensured they all have prior experience working with children."

What do families need to know about registration?

"Registration for the programs is open on www.kidsbolo.com. Registration can be done via our website and parents will receive additional information by email. "

The Our Kids review of Kids Bolo Urdu-English Programs

    our take

Learning a second language can be challenging, so it helps when the environment is fun, engaging, and designed in a way that kids don’t know they are learning. Kids Bolo Urdu-English programs use conversation, activities and games to engage kids in learning spoken Urdu. They don’t push kids and let them develop their Urdu speaking skills in a way that is natural to them. This allows the kids to be exposed gradually, developing a love of the Urdu language. Before they know it, kids are moved into Urdu-only speaking classes where they can gain an even deeper understanding of the language. Instructors are all native Urdu speakers with prior teaching experience. Classes are well-organized and the homework, well, doesn’t really feel like homework. Kids Bolo was started by co-founder Masooma Aftab who realized that the Urdu language would soon disappear in Canada with second-generation kids not learning the language their parents learned to speak first. With limited resources available, Kids Bolo was started to fill that gap.

Review(s) of Kids Bolo Urdu-English Programs

Sofia (Parent)We absolutely loved our experience!

The course was so well structured and well thought out, and they picked things to teach that would actually be digestible and age appropriate. Our 5 year old went into the class with almost no Urdu in daily use, and has picked up so many words and sentences that we are using more and more every day ... Read More

Shehrose (Parent)Her understanding of Urdu has suddenly expanded!

I signed my oldest daughter, 8 years old up for the classes. Her understanding of Urdu has suddenly expanded. She is putting her knowledge of existing words and new words together to figure out sentences! These classes are also not taught in a traditional way which can be a bit boring. It's only taught in conversation and games! I also appreciate the follow up after the class with games and sheets to continue practicing with my daughter ... Read More

Kiran (Parent)Our kids LOVED the Urdu Class

Our kids LOVED the Urdu Class and are practicing their Urdu around the house and with each other! The classes are so organized and well thought out. The at-home activities are fun and a great way to re-inforce what they've learned. The teachers are so sweet and positive (and patient!). I'm so grateful to KidsBolo for creating such an amazing program. 10/10 Recommend. We cant wait for Session 2....and 3, 4, and beyond! : ... Read More

    Director's Message

    Masooma Aftab, Co-founder, Kids Bolo
Masters in Early Childhood Studies; Bachelors in Psychology

We are Pakistani-Canadians who immigrated to Toronto in our early teens. While we grew up in Urdu speaking households, we ended up speaking to each other mostly in English. It wasn’t until we had kids that the realization hit - Urdu was going to fade away if something did not change.

As parents whose children were born in the West, we felt our choice of relevant resources was limited. So we decided to create some ourselves.

Together with you, we are on a mission to empower our kids to better understand and speak Urdu through easy, fun and relatable resources such as Urdu-English booksan Urdu talking penUrdu Conversational Classes and Urdu Summer Camps
