About this Camp

Small Camp, Big Adventure! Tucked away on Lake Shebeshekong near Parry Sound, Hidden Bay is a world away from the city and the perfect place for your child to learn leadership while enjoying traditional camp fun in a welcoming and inclusive environment. 1 & 2 week sessions and teen leadership programs available. Busing from Aurora, Barrie & Parry Sound.

The camp was founded in 1999, though the site has been used for outdoor education of various sorts since the 1940s. So, perhaps if directly, the camp—both in terms of its location and its approach—participates in a longer tradition. Recent expansion and development has added to and improved the buildings on site, including a dining hall completed in 2007. The programming is delightfully traditional. The first item on the daily schedule is raising the flag and pond time. Love that. This is a place that values skills, but rightly also knows that stopping to breathe and appreciate the environment is important, too. And while swim badges and leadership skills attract parents, for many kids the pond, rightly, is an absolute highlight. The camp does very many things right, from pacing, to inclusion, to challenges by choice. Which is what camp is all about.

Dear Families,

It is with a heavy heart I have to let you know that we will not be operating our Day or Overnight programs at Hidden Bay for summer 2020.

We know this may be devastating for you and your family, it is for us as well. Camp isn’t just our cabins and buildings, it is all of you, and the best way to make sure that Hidden Bay carries on for decades is to protect the health and safety of our campers and staff by asking you to stay home.

We will continue to communicate with campers, and our community, through our social media feeds on Facebook and Instagram, and updates will be posted to our website as we prepare for 2021.

If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me by email [email protected] or phone 705-342-7345.

Director's Message

Christina Bossart, Camp Director

Hello and welcome to Hidden Bay,

I am so excited to be headed into Hidden Bay's 20th summer and my 5th summer at camp.

We are a camp that is small by design but we focus on making Leadership and Character a way of life for all our campers.

You may wonder, why a Leadership Camp?  Every family has their reasons for wanting a Hidden Bay camp experience, bit we have a few reasons why we think you should consider a Leadership Camp.

  • We create an environment of trust, by first building positive relationships between campers. These connections allow for campers to feel safe to discuss topics, reflect on their goals and recognize others’ achievements. They know that their voice is being heard; their ideas listened to.
  • Campers become facilitators of change in their own lives. We create responsibility in youth by guiding them to self-monitor around expectations, rather than rules. These skills prepare our campers to confidently conduct themselves in a courteous, respectful and responsible manner not only at camp, but also at home and at school.

We hope to see your camper this summer, and if you have any questions, please don't hestitate to contact us at any time to learn more about our program.

Christina - aka. Stitch
