Galacticraft goes boldly where no Minecraft mod has gone before: space. Students will get to explore new planets, collect resources, build energy sources, and survive in the far reaches of the galaxy. It's a wonderful adventure that's completely unique when compared to other Minecraft mods. There is a simple and straightforward path that focuses on a linear progression as student’s explore the solar system. More importantly, throughout the game, students are introduced to real world astronomy and space exploration that dates back to the Voyager probes that left our planet in the late 1960’s.
In addition to the endless fun, creativity and collaboration that building in Minecraft provides, this course is designed to provide students with the fundamentals of Astronomy and humankind’s history of reaching for the stars. Each lesson will begin with a famous astronomer that starts in the 15th century with Nicolaus Copernicus and extends to James Webb and the space telescope named after him to be launched in November, 2021.
End-of-Course Project: A completed Mars Colony with a full complement of sustainable resources to support a human civilization of the future.
