Java is the most widely used programming language and the best way to get started with coding. Students will have the opportunity to open that door with the knowledge and know-how to use Java to develop apps, games, and drawings.

At the beginning of the week, students will learn to use Processing commands to learn the basics of programming and create their own drawings and animations. By the end of the week, students will learn Object-Oriented programming in Java to create multi-class games or applications.

What Students Will Learn

  • The power of programming as a tool
  • An understanding of coordinated systems
  • Physics including velocity and gravity
  • Game loops and game logic
  • Variables, loops, conditionals, and more

What Students Will Create

  • Drawings and animations
  • A game like the classic Breakout
  • A game, story, or animation of their choice
