Private Acting Lessons

Private acting lessons for stage and screen at CBY Music and Performing Arts are tailored to meet the needs of the individual and help them to achieve their specific goals.

Acting lessons are delivered using the following 3 pathways:

Repertoire Path:
The repertoire pathway puts a greater emphasis on learning and understanding scripts and scene work. Repertoire can extend across a variety of genres, from classical to musical theatre to comedy, and focuses on the joy of acting and confidence building. General acting technique and theory are taught experientially through the act of performing and reciting selected repertoire. 

Exam Path:
Students wishing to earn their acting qualifications can do so with CBY. Our certified teachers will lead the student through all the requirements to prepare and succeed in "Speech and Drama" exams.

These acting qualifications can also earn students a high school credit for Grade 11 and Grade 12 and are widely recognized and respected.

Foundation Path:
This pathway is for students who wish to develop a strong foundation in their craft. Students are supported as they study a variety of acting methods, combining theory, repertoire, audition technique and stylistic awareness. This is the ideal path for students who are interested in working professionally in the industry, obtaining agent representation or auditioning for higher education programs.

Students can choose to mix all three pathways, just focus on one or switch pathways as their objectives change. We have found that this bespoke method of training accommodates the evolving goals of the young singer and keeps them working towards a multitude of music based milestones.

All acting students, regardless of path, are given the chance to perform in our biannual student concert series, as well as various competitive and non-competitive festivals and slams, providing them with valuable performance and growth experiences.

Private lessons are 30 minutes per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school and occur on a monthly rolling basis. Monthly tuition fees range between $140 & $150 per month. Please contact us to find out about availability.
