About this Camp

Camp de vacances Kéno

We are Kéno.

We are a non-profit organization that has believed in the potential of youth for over 50 years. We're known to provide some of the best leadership camps and development programs for 4 to 21 year-olds.

Day after day, year after year, our devoted staff outdoes itself and enables young people to discover the outdoors in so many ways. Through creativity, pushing their own limits, and collaboration, we teach young people to see themselves and the world around them in a different way.

What we hope to achieve above all is to light that spark that will make them understand they have the ability to do great things and do them on a grand scale.

We are Kéno.

And we help youth become larger than life.

The 2020 Experience at Camp de vacances Kéno

In the context of COVID-19 and following the government decree adopted last May that forced the closure of summer camps in Quebec, we are obliged to cancel the activities planned for Summer Camp Kéno in 2020.

As you can well imagine, we have not come to this decision out of joy of heart and we know that it will be greeted with sadness by our clients and partners, and by all those who have at heart the development of youth and the sustainability of Camp Kéno. Even if this inactivity will have important costs, this decision is also the least risky financially, so we will be there in 2021 with you, to continue the exceptional educational adventure of Camp Kéno.

It will never be too late to continue to become larger than life!

See you next year, take care of yourself.

Director's Message

Réjean Roy, General Manager

As a parent, you want the very best for your children. An overall aim is to provide them with nurturing and diverse experiences to help them find their way, based on their unique personnality, and reach adulthood fully equipped to live a happy and productive life.

Sending a child to camp is a terrific way of contributing to that goal. Indeed, the benefits of camp go far beyond fun and games! Studies show that children attending summer camp develop many skills: self-esteem, trust, leadership and team-building, only to name a few. Don't we all wish that for our children?

At Camp Kéno, for now over 50 years, we have strongly believed that offering children the opportunity to explore activities unavailable in their usual urban setting is a great way of unleashing their potential. Nature has a way of bringing the best out of human beings. Nestled in a terrific setting where lakes and rivers abound, Kéno puts canoeing out-tripping at the top of it's activity list, which also includes: climbing, archery, obstacle course, sailing, kayaking and canyoning. Care has been given to ensure ALL activities and challenges are age appropriate, offering campers longer and deeper experiences as they grow up.

Why choose Kéno? Because you can benefit from the added value of a French immersion environnement. Kéno offers it all: it is a certified and well-established camp, in an authentic French envrionnement offering stimulating activities.

As a parent, you surely choose the best for your children. By offering the experience of a residential camp at Kéno, you offer us the opportunity of caring for them and broadening their linguistic, cultural and personnal horizons, providing them with valuable tools for their future.

Stories

Northern Québec

Canoe tripping, whatever the length, is sure to teach you something; wether it be an interesting fact about nature, a quick tip that makes your paddling strokes more efficient or a more profound knowledge that you gain through long out-tripping expeditions. My outdoors expeditions have taught or relentlessly reminded me : finesse over force, humility, to enjoy the scenery, to laugh no matter how drenched you may get! I now carry these lessons with me wherever I go and whatever I do.

...

How many flat tires must one kid patch, before you call him a man?

What a beautiful week my son spent there! He loved the trails so much that he asked me to go ride with him there. It's not everyday that your teenage boy deliberately wants to spend an entire weekend in your compagny! The fun singletrack trails are fast and flowing with several small loops of twisting turns where you could spend all day. They have a network in a remote but beautiful location... probably the most beautiful woods where I have mountain biked in the East. I wish I was 10 again, going to bike camp there.

...

Never forget.

Kéno helped me grow during a decade’s worth of summers, and inspired me to return as an employee during my university years. I got to relive Kéno from a whole different perspective, learn the inner workings of this dedicated group of people, and more importantly, help my own groups of kids feel the same way about nature, the camp and life as I felt when I was in their shoes. For these reasons, I will never forget Kéno. It’s a part of my life now.

...

Where the heart is.

Another wonderful summer draws to a close...It is with a heavy heart that I say : I'll see you next summer my friends. For that Kéno is the most beautiful place in the world to me.Thanks to all for being who you are and making the the camp what it has been for the past ten years, and what it still remains.
