Thank you for your interest in Camp Chikopi, let us tell you a little more about Chikopi and after you have read our ebrochure and checked out our web site we will be very happy to answer your questions or put you in contact with some of our alumni.
Chikopi is the World’s first “All Sports Summer Camp”. Since 1920, we have offered boys an excellent mixture of traditional sports with a wilderness camp experience. Our 400 acres, located on Ahmic Lake in the Almaguin Highlands of Ontario.
At Chikopi, we live in, age assigned, wood cabins creating a close community of friendship and adventure. Our campers discover the rewards of being in a spectacular natural setting without technology’s distractions. They thrive on the Chikopi traditions of teamwork and leadership.
Our highly trained staff of counselors and instructors provide the crucial 3:1 ratio that ensures individual attention for every boy. Many of our Staff have developed through our camper ranks to counselor and staff, they were chosen for their skills and personality, to guide and encourage the next generation.
Chikopi can accommodate 85 campers, aged 7-17. In 2012, we represented over 24 nations including USA and Canada.
Sessions are 2, 3, 4 or 7 weeks long. Transport is available from Toronto on scheduled session dates. We take canoe trips, in our trademark green and white cedar strip canoes, on a cruise through the 3,000 square miles of Algonquin Provincial Park and other lakes and rivers in the region.
Some of our camp activities include, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball, Softball, Cricket, Archery, Lacrosse, Wrestling, Mountain Biking, Swimming, Kayaking, and Sailing. We have weekly sporting events with our sister camp. Daily specialized swimming and soccer are available at no extra charge.
I, Bob Duenkel have been the Director since 1976.
