Mini Weekend Session Overnight Camp Traditional Coed 2015-08-07Aug 07-09 066 - 10 $185

In 2010, Camp Tamakwa teamed up with Adventure Valley Day Camp and an incredible group of 40 eager campers had an exciting 4-day overnight summer camp experience.  Another energetic and active group of campers loved every second at Tamakwa in 2014, which was our fifth summer with this amazing mini-session.

This coming summer, for one special weekend in August, a limited number of campers, many of them from Adventure Valley Day Camp, are treated to a taste of Tamakwa’s summer camp hospitality and introduced to our campers, staff, activities and traditions.  This is also great for our current campers enabling them to show off Tamakwa’s energy and spirit, not to mention beautiful Algonquin Park.

During their time at Tamakwa, campers are accompanied by both Adventure Valley and Tamakwa staff and live in designated cabins exclusively for our weekend campers.  While this weekend in open to Adventure Valley campers, a number of spots are also available for any prospective campers.

Adventure Valley Day Camp is located in a secluded, stunning 20 acre oasis just north of Leslie and Steeles. The Adventure Valley family has well over 20 years of day camp experience and they share Tamakwa’s core values of family, spirit, compassion, and traditional camp fun, all in a safe and nurturing environment.  Combining the experience at a day camp and residential camp is the best of both worlds.

We are excited to provide new prospective campers a weekend at Tamakwa combining the best of both day camp and residential camp life for this summer and for many summers to come… and sharing this special mini-session with our friends at Adventure Valley Day Camp is fantastic.

Please contact our Toronto office to discuss availability for this weekend.

Singer Songwriter Amy Sky - Camp Tamakwa Alumniexpand

http://www.ourkids.net/camp/the-essentials-article.php?id=161 Amy Sky, best known for her songs I Will Take Care of You and Love, Pain and the Whole Damn Thing. had never sung in public until she was 15 years old at Camp Tamakwa. She'd been studying classical cello, but when the staff and campers put on an evening of Gershwin, Sky had to step out of her comfort zone and step into the American songbook. Now having written songs for Anne Murray, Olivia Newton-John and Sheena Easton, Amy Sky reflects back on the "warm and supportive environment of camp", saying that "it increases your confidence, since you get positive feedback just for trying something new." During the seven years that her own daughter attended Tamakwa, Sky held annual songwriting sessions with campers. Working with cabin groups, she'd help the campers rewrite the lyrics to popular songs to reflect their own experience. Roots Clothing Company Founder at Camp Tamakwaexpand

"It's safe to say," says Roots clothing company co-founder Michael Budman, "that there might not be a Roots if there hadn't been Camp Tamakwa." Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, Budman had attended some local camps, but at age 10 he was ready for the big-time- Camp Tamakwa, the 75-year-old Canadian-American camp set on the shores of Algonquin Park's South Tea Lake in northern Ontario. "It's one of the most beautiful campsites in the world - a magical place," says Budman. It's also where he and fellow camper Don Green became buddies and hatched their plan to open a shoe store in Toronto that eventually grew into an international clothing empire. Read Michael Budman's reflection on attending Camp Tamakwa. ...
