How do I find a summer camp?

    Is this helpfull?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. A great camp for your child as cousin, schoolmate or neighbourhood pal might not be the best choice for your child. Each child and each family is unique, so the best approach is to do your own first-hand research. Start with the interests and wishes of your child and your family, then visit websites, talk to parents, gather expert advice and contact camps.

Find everything you need and want to know about finding the right camp in Choosing a Camp.

I would say that word of mouth is very important. We have been happy to refer a new family to one with children in the camp already. This allows the new parents to get the perspective of someone who already knows about the camp and can inform you of it's values. This also gives you a chance to ask about anything that you were worried about on your tour.

Local family magazines have lots of resources for summer camps. Check out the May issue of WestCoast Families magazine (British Columbia) - you can view it online at www.westcoastfamilies.com - click on "previous issues". Also check your local community centre!
