Is this helpfull? |

It is very unlikely that your child will be the only first-time camper. Camps anticipate and plan for a mix of returning and new campers in each session. Staff are particularly attentive to first-timers, ensuring that they quickly become familiar and comfortable with facilities, schedules and activities. In only a few days new campers start feeling like seasoned campers. Still worried about sending your child away to summer camp? Here is some advice on learning to let go and why you should. |

My family found that the girls in my daughter's first cabin who had been at camp the longest were the most welcoming and eager to show her around.

Definitely not. Expect a mix of new, returners, and extreme veterans. This holds true for all age groups.
If you're nervous about a specific camp, call and talk to the registrar. They should give a you great idea on the sessions/programs that would be most "rookie" friendly.

We are very sensitive to the anxiety that a new camper must feel when arriving at camp for the first time. Starting immediately counsellors will make sure that campers start getting to know each other and to learn the other girls' names.
