Most camps ask campers to leave all personal electronic devices at home. Summer camp is a great time to "get away from it all" and kids need that as much as working adults do! . If you are not sure what to pack for camp, the Camp Packing List section has lots of helpful advice. |

One of the benefits of summer camp is to meet new friends, and enrich social skills. Electronic devices tend to be 1 player games or create very small "cliques". It's always best to let the camp staff run camp the way it was planned and to leave the "gadgets" at home for a more quiet and relaxing time of the day.

Aside form the risk of an electronic toy getting damaged at camp, a child who lives with their headphones on won't have a much chance to take advantage of all of the great new things that camp has to offer.

Kids will have plenty of activities to occupy their time, that they won't be missing their toys from home.

I vote no. One of the beuaties of summer camp is being unplugged. With American kids spending 7.5 hrs a day on screen time, summer camp is the perfect time to offset that. In fact, I would take it a step further and use the time away at camp to partially ween them off these devices, and to set sticter limits when they come home.
Camp is for making real connections -- with people and with nature.
